AMRITSAR: Shiromani Akali Dal (sanyukat) General Secretary a karnail Singh peer Mohammad urged the Punjab Government to make immediate arrangements for power supply to save the farmers. In the heat of fury, the masses and the poor are in a bad situation.
He said that the farmers were already in bad economic situation, then there is the power cut, which is having a devastating effect on the paddy crop. Peer Mohammad clarified that the Punjab government is all surrounded but The Captain is only worried about his seat, the general electorate is not in his list.He said that Punjab was already providing electricity subsidy of Rs.9000 crore but Delhi was only Rs.1699 crore . Therefore, Punjab needs clean arrangements. We have a lot of our own power and We are supplying power to the neighboring states.
Punjab can buy power on national basis. However, due to poor power procurement and power supply arrangements signed by the Badals, Punjab has the lowest per capita income in India. He further said that the “Punjab Model of Power” - crores of rupees being spent for the benefit of the private power plants to make absurd and incalculable profits should be incurred for the benefit of the people of Punjab, it means this amount should be used to subsidize free domestic use (up to 300 units), provide 24-hour supply and invest in school education and health sector.
